Tucked away in the heart of the Snoqualmie Valley, just steps from the homey Aroma Coffee Co., you’ll find something truly magical: Pete’s Treefort — the very first public Nelson Treehouse in Washington State.
Inspired by Norwegian stave churches, Pete’s Treefort is designed as a sculpture in the trees, featuring intricate woodwork, a belltower, and sustainable materials.
Pete’s Treefort transports you back to a time of childhood. Step atop the cascading staircase made from smooth salvaged western red cedar as you ascend into the expertly crafted fort.
The first sight you come across is a large deck made from reclaimed Douglas fir that overlooks the bustling coffee shop beside it. Take a seat on one of the colorful stools as you breathe in the crisp, morning air. Then, rest your hands on the fiddle cut railings and listen as squirrels scamper up and down the living Douglas fir beside you.
Next, take in the spell-binding details of the belltower. Gaze up at the western red fir shingles that protect the tower from rain and wind. Admire the Douglas fir beams that support the narrowing layers.
Observe how the car decking is expertly crafted to fit around the Douglas fir. Every detail was carefully considered, such as the small gap between the fort and the trunk that allows the tree to grow freely, honoring its living nature. Notice how the gap mirrors the curves of the tree.
Custom galvanized hardware works in tandem with iconic Nelson hardware, such as the Heavy Limb Treehouse Attachment Bolt, to ensure that the fort is strong, durable, and sturdy.
Double-slotted gothic doors swing open to reveal a balcony high in the canopy—where you might imagine you’re aboard a pirate ship or standing on a castle turret. It’s the perfect perch to take in the valley views… and your latte.
Take this chance to color in the trees with our coloring book, which includes a drawing of Pete’s Treefort, as well as other Nelson designs!
Look closely and you’ll spot charming secrets tucked throughout—like the birdhouse nestled into the outer wall of the belltower and the intricate carvings in the tower. Pete’s Treefort isn’t just a structure; it’s a story you get to walk into.
As you take your final look at the treehouse, notice the yellow cedar and Douglas fir door jams that tie it all together.
Wander next door to Aroma Coffee Co., a specialty coffee shop that invites guests to “Gather. Linger. Savor.” Pete’s Treefort elevates that mission—literally. For the first time ever, sip your #coffeeinthetrees as the scent of cedar mingles with fresh espresso. Showcase your adventure by tagging Nelson Treehouse and Aroma on Instagram!
Built in just two and a half months, this fairytale masterpiece made its grand debut beneath a canopy of twinkling lights. On the night of the Fall City Tree Lighting Ceremony, Pete’s Treefort opened its doors to the public with a ribbon cutting as magical as the structure itself. Lines of excited visitors twist around the property, waiting for their turn to ascend into the treetops.
We invite you to let your imagination climb a little higher as you step into Pete’s Treefort.
