The Lakeside Treehouse Cabin: A Serene Getaway in the Trees

Waking up to the gentle sway of the trees and a private view of a tranquil lake is the kind of escape dreams are made of. Nestled deep in the Northeast, this treehouse cabin, accessible only by boat, is a sanctuary for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike. Built for a family to reconnect and create memories, this project challenged us with its logistics but rewarded us with some of the most breathtaking jobsite views we’ve ever encountered. The surrounding area, peaceful and secluded, offers the perfect setting to unplug and embrace a slower pace of life.

Elevated Simplicity: A Cabin in the Trees

Roosting 11 feet above the ground, this old-school elevated cabin transports you back to a quieter way of living. Inspired by classic hunting and fishing cabins, it’s a space designed to celebrate the simplicity of outdoor living. With panoramic lake views and a design that evokes the charm of a classic family cabin, this treehouse is the ultimate getaway.

The exterior features timeless cedar shingle siding, seamlessly blending into its forested surroundings.

This treehouse is soundly supported by eight sturdy trees and anchored with our treehouse hardware, including a custom 3 Beam Spreader, hyperbolts, suspension backup cables, knee strut braces, and static uplift arrestor.

A Journey to the Treehouse

A staircase leads the way to the treehouse, with three towering trees welcoming visitors at the landing.

From the entry-side deck, accented with cedar branch pickets, you can take in sweeping views of the lake.

Inside the Cabin: Rustic Charm Meets Modern Comfort

Stepping inside, you’re greeted with the warmth and nostalgia of a quintessential cabin. The living room invites you to settle into a leather couch near the wood-burning fireplace, surrounded by a built-in bookcase and a dining table perfectly positioned to frame views through cathedral-like windows.

Whether it’s a board game night, reading by the fire, or gazing into the treetops, this cozy space is designed for relaxation.

A Cozy Kitchen

The compact kitchen is both functional and charming. Built-in cabinets with live-edge wood countertops provide storage and workspace, while a mini fridge, stove burner, and sink offer all the essentials for a few days’ escape. Every detail is crafted with care, ensuring the kitchen blends seamlessly into the rustic cabin aesthetic.

Peaceful Sleeping Quarters

The primary bedroom features a cozy queen bed, offering a restful retreat amid the trees.

Upstairs, a custom ship’s ladder leads to a loft with two twin beds nestled into snug alcoves. The loft railing, adorned with branch detail pickets, adds an extra touch of whimsy.

A Quaint Bathroom

Tucked away is a bathroom complete with a clawfoot tub, sink, and compostable toilet, a touch of vintage charm that aligns perfectly with the treehouse’s design.

Outdoor Spaces to Savor

French doors from Marvin, lead from the living room to a covered porch, extending the living space for three-season use.

Supported by log posts that evoke the surrounding trees, the porch is an idyllic spot to enjoy the lake views, especially at sunset.

The Crow’s Nest: A Bridge to Serenity

The suspension bridge leading to the crow’s nest is a highlight of the treehouse experience. With its bouncy, net-lined pathway, it feels like an adventure in itself. The crow’s nest provides the perfect vantage point to take in the treehouse, the lake, and the ever-changing sky.

This lakeside treehouse is a place to slow down, soak in the views, and reconnect with nature. Every detail was designed for comfort and adventure because the best memories are made in the trees.
